Brushy Mountain Apple Festival
RETURNING FOR ITS 40TH YEAR IN 2018
A One Day Festival Featuring Live Music, Dancers, Food Vendors, Arts and Crafts Vendors, and All the Apples You Could Ask For
Each year on the first Saturday in October, the streets and roads around Main Street, North Wilkesboro are flooded with people, cars and the sounds of a great time. You'll know you're getting close to Brush Mountain Ruritan Club's Apple Festival when you see crowds of people flocking together on the sidewalks in one direction.
Your next sign that you're getting close will be the sound. Vendors selling, people chatting, animals (if you're near the petting zoo), and, of course, the music. Bluegrass, Country, Folk, Gospel, and Appalachian Heritage music is available for your listening pleasure. All for FREE. Four different music stages are stationed throughout the festival, so be sure to find them all!
Friday evening, "Apple Jam" offers pre-festival, live entertainment at Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club’s Brushy Mountain Apple Festival Park. This is located at the corner of 10th and Main Streets.
Cloggers, folk dancers, rope skippers, and square dancers provide additional entertainment venues for festival goers. You'll likely hear them before you see them. Dancers from various studios perform each year not too far from the petting zoo.
And as you're walking into the festival, the wonderful smells will hit you. From gyros to corn on the cob to pizza, the wide variety of food vendors will have you stuffing your tummy with delicious treats at every turn. Apples are also being sold at every corner in a wide variety of forms that include apple pies, apple cider, and dried apples. Or buy a bag of apples to make your own delicious treats!
We recommend parking somewhere that's not too close but is still in walking distance to ensure you find a spot and don't have a hard time getting out later!.Just be sure you can park there legally! Lots of businesses and homes surrounding the festival open up their yards and parking lots for festival goers to pay to park.
