Equipment and Supplies
You are welcome to bring your own fishing supplies, but Grandfather Trout Farm has everything you need. All bait and tackle are furnished at no extra charge, including a bucket, towel, net and gear for your fishing needs. This experience is great for kids and for aspiring fishermen who have never fished in their lives and for seasoned anglers who are looking for a way to relax.
Trout cost is $6.95 per pound of live weight. For some, cleaning their catch is part of the fun. If cleaning your fish is not for you, Grandfather Trout Farm will gladly clean them for you at a rate of 50 cents each, which includes cleaning or filleting the trout. Rainbow trout may be refrigerated up to seven days after purchase, and all orders are iced and double bagged.

Grandfather Trout Farm is located close to Grandfather Mountain just ten miles south of Boone at 10767 N.C. 105 S in Banner Elk. Grandfather Trout Farm offers Grandfather Gem Mine right on the premises. The farm provides all of the equipment, participants simply clean their ore in the flume with wooden screens to find precious gems. It’s fascinating and fun for the whole family. After mining, you may take your gems to the Grandfather Gem Shop for identification, cutting and mounting. The shop offers $15, $20, $30 and $40 buckets that guests can share.
