Appalachian Ski Mountain
Appalachian Ski Mountain was built in 1962 by M.E. Thalheimer and was called Blowing Rock Ski Lodge. Six years later, it was purchased by Grady Moretz and four partners and turned into Appalachian Ski Mountain. It now has twelve slopes, including two terrain parks. In 2014, the Appalachian Ski Mountain purchased/refurbished more than twelve snow guns to provide deeper and more consistent snow. See you on the slope!

Appalachian Ski Mtn. offers an outdoor ice skating arena as the perfect complement to our slopes. Located in a spectacular scenic setting overlooking the ski slopes on one side, and the Blue Ridge Mountains on the other, the outdoor ice arena has a refrigerated ice floor, is fully lighted for skating under the stars seven nights a week and is North Carolina’s only Zamboni maintained ice rink. Skaters and non-skaters can watch the action and warm up by our rinkside bonfire. We offer skate rentals in traditional figure skates, as well as hockey skates. Ask about group rates and birthday packages. Individual and group lessons are also available by appointment, call 1-800-322-2373 or email for details.
