The 26th Year of the Avery Agriculture and Horticulture Fair
Each year, residents from all over NC flock to Avery County for the Avery A&H Fair. Featuring rides, crafts, animals, and competitions in livestock and farm and home, this event fits all ages and interests.
This year, events include:
Goat Show at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28
Horse Halter Show for kids 9 and under at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29
Chicken Show by 4H Club at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 30
Dairy Steer Project Show at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 31, featuring kids who have raised calves from 3 days old
Countrified Obstacle Course for adults at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, with $300 prize for both men's and women's divisions
Little Britches Obstacle Course for ages 15 and under at 2 pm.m on Saturday, September 1
Cow Patty Bingo every night at 7 p.m.
There will be many other events going on each night as well!
Many come for the food and games. But many also come for to enter their livestock, produce, crafts, quilts, woodworking, cakes, pies and more for the chance to win prizes. Ask for Jerry Wood for information on Farm and Home Tent entries. Entries must be turned in by Monday, August 27.
This year, on Saturday, September 1, there will be the 1st Chili Cook Off. There is a $10 entry fee for this competition, and the cooks will be competing for prizes. 1st place gets $100, 2nd place gets $75 and 3rd place gets $50. Bring your best chili recipe ready to eat in a crock pot!

Tuesday, August 28-Thursday, August 30 from 5:30-9:30 p.m.
Friday, August 31 from 5:30-10:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 1 from 9:30 a.m.-11 p.m.
Cost::
$5 gate fee
$10 ride bracelets for all ages on Tuesday
$20 ride bracelets on Wednesday-Friday
$15 ride bracelets on Saturday
