Falls
Linville Falls is the Blue Ridge Parkway’s largest waterfall, dropping a total of 90 feet in a multi-level cascade. The falls are visible from several overlooks along trails leading from the Linville Falls Visitors Center.
Hiking
Trails to Linville Falls, the Parkway’s largest and most famous waterfall, offer different views of the upper and lower falls. Erwin's View Trail is the more popular of the trails. It is 1.6 miles round trip and of moderate difficulty. The trail begins at the Visitors Center, then crosses the Linville River. The first viewing area comes at 0.5 miles in and provides a view of the small double falls above the main falls. Below this, the river narrows and winds through a small gorge before plunging over the main drop.
Farther down the main trail at 0.7 miles comes Chimney View which gives the 1st view of the main falls. There is another great view of the Linville River and gorge below the falls.
Facilities
Linville Falls Visitor Center is located at Mile Post 317.8. Parking and restrooms are available, with trailheads to the falls stemming from here as well.
