BANNER ELK
Step back in time at the Old Hampton Store. This historic 1920 general store was an original train stop for Tweetsie Railroad. Today, the general store is just as bustling, still a thriving place to gather for fun, family, food, arts and crafts and live music throughout the week. The authentic country store is home to a popular BBQ restaurant featuring hand-pulled, hickory-smoked pork. BBQ served on homemade sourdough rolls – plus a menu full of other delicacies. The store offers local and regional pottery, crafts, cheeses, pickles, jams, jellies, country ham and gristmill products. Opened last year is a full-service bar with beer, wine and cocktails served in a cozy section adjacent to the restaurant. The Old Hampton Store is a destination, a great place to stop in, explore, shop, dine and drink. Weekends feature great food, live music, artist demonstrations, sculptures, pottery and the best cornbread you have ever tasted.
